Anthony Toner: Some of Prine, some of Mine
Belfast-based songwriter Anthony Toner opened the show for the legendary Barbara Dickson on her last visit to Kinross, and makes a welcome return for the Winter Festival with a unique afternoon concert, mixing his own material with a selection of songs from one of the masters - the late, great John Prine. Anthony’s own work was once memorably described as ‘like James Taylor meets John Prine – in a second hand bookshop’, and he admits that Prine has always been a major influence. Anthony has been growing a devoted audience across Scotland with intimate folk club shows over the last ten years, and winning hearts with superb fingerstyle guitar and a repertoire of songs like ‘Sailortown’, ‘Well Well Well’ and ‘Exit Wounds’. And for this one-off he’s adding a mix of Prine classics like ‘Sam Stone’, ‘Speed of the Sound of Loneliness’, ‘Souvenirs’ and many more. Expect an afternoon of great songs and some entertaining stories from the road.
